JENKS' WEB PAGEOn To New YorkJames Jenks and his wife and family moved to Schroon Lake, New York in 1810. Their son, Edmund, who was born in Rhode Island in 1775, married Sally Richardson and they had eight children. Edmund was a sargent in the Essex County, NY, Militia in the War of 1812. Genealogy records indicate that he was a prominent citizen generally. His son Warren was born in 1805 and married Freelove Potter in 1830. Warren learned metalworking like a lot of the Jenks, and did some work in Rutland, VT. He was skilled in making cutlery and tools. Warren and Freelove had seven children, however, we only have good records for six of them. Austin, born in 1833; Martin, born in 1834; Martha, born in 1836; and Henry Edwin, born in 1844. Oscar was born in 1837 and George in 1842 but both died in infancy.
